Like bubbles in soda, we too strive to reach the top.

After a visit to the High Museum in Atlanta I'd been tinkering with some designs in the art deco style. After a couple of sketches I began to see a pattern that featured circles overlapping and bumping into each other. I thought about the bubbles in my Coke always rising up.

Using the Craftsman #9 pattern as the base I came up with this pattern.

And this is the lamp it produced:

Next I removed the Craftsman pattern from the background and made it one solid color. The clear is a rough, bubbly texture and the color is a nice, cobalt blue with white wisps.

Finally, I've flattened the image and removed the vertical dividers to make The Carbonated Universe.
